Out of my pool of clients, Paul of Envision Entertainment could be the most infectiously enthusiastic. Leaving his day job as a mechanical engineering designer to pursue his passions, Paul found success as an energetic wedding DJ for couples all across New York. Word of mouth was an encouraging start, but as his business grew, so did his advertising needs. Paul entrusted us to create a website that embodied one word above all: party.

The tone of Envision Entertainment was somewhat twofold, equal parts what most weddings tended to be; a party, a celebration, but also a sentimental and classical event. More than just DJing, Paul had expanded to offering photo booth services, lighting, special effects and corporate events. His site needed to show off all these services without either overwhelming or detracting from each other. Paul was also an avid blogger of his events, so being able to quickly and easily publish featured weddings was a must.

Paul’s existing logo was elegant and simple, making it also versatile. I was confident in being able to blend it in anywhere on the site without clashing against any of the more excitable elements, but with so much colorful imagery and videos, we still needed to choose design elements that would ground the project and pull it all together.

We settled on a bright, energetic purple, one of my own favorite colors to use in design. Flashes of it were located throughout much of the graphics on-site, which made it suitable for buttons and links to match without getting lost in the sea of color. Letting all of that take care of the fluorishes, our typeface choices were based on thick, bold lettering that would be legible but more understated.

The components of the site themselves were where the design really shone. Photos and videos of wedding parties- some taken at Envision’s own events- were placed all throughout. With how stressful wedding planning can be, Paul was offering to bring back the excitement and fun.

Envision Entertainment doesn’t only offer DJing. Photo booths, lighting, special effects and more were also involved. A brand new service was launched recently alongside his primary offerings; vintage phone rentals for guests to leave messages on throughout the reception. We were requested to design a new logo for this offering, along with a landing page of its own.

The purpose of this logo was to capture retro-romance, playful but romantic. Envision’s services were broken up into their own informational pages, but Love After Tone featured specialized designs separate from the rest of the site and additional pages to explain services.

With the number of events Envision was becoming involved in, Paul decided to write blog entries covering playlists, theme, and pictures of the event itself, both to record Envision’s successes and to provide examples to clients of real events with their services. We created a simple template that could be used as many times as needed in order to post weekly to the website.
